In response to a pressing national challenge highlighted by the U.S. Department of Labor’s forecast of over 1.2 million job openings in STEM-related fields by 2018, KCOS, in collaboration with Workforce Solutions Borderplex, has embarked on an innovative initiative.
Our project aims to tackle the root cause of the critical shortage of qualified college graduates in STEM fields by addressing the issue of waning interest among middle school students. Through a strategic partnership, we are developing a series of dynamic web-based videos designed to ignite curiosity and passion for STEAM fields and the arts among middle and high school students.
These engaging videos will showcase the journeys of young professionals and tradespeople, providing firsthand insights into their careers and the paths that led them to pursue their chosen fields. By sharing their experiences and enthusiasm, these role models will inspire students to explore the exciting opportunities available in STEAM disciplines, ultimately fostering a new generation of innovators and problem-solvers.
Through this collaborative effort, we are committed to empowering educators and students alike to embrace the wonders of science, technology, engineering, arts, and math, ensuring a brighter future for our workforce and our society as a whole.
